Winter Knitty is up!!!

There are soo many things I want to knit from this issue. Like Mirror, Amelia, Fargyle and Amused. I think I will most likely make Mirror, I just have to dig through my stash to see if I can find something suitable. That is, once I get my christmas knitting done. I'm not doing much Christmas knitting this year, I usually don't do much if any. But this year my aunt asked me to make a pair of thrummed mittens for my cousin. I couldn't say no. Even though I don't really want to knit them. I guess it's because I don't think she will really appreciate them (my cousin) and know the time and effort that went into them. For some reason I enjoy knitting for others when a) I know they will appreciate and use what I make them and b) I am not asked to knit for others. I would much rather knit for someone who is not expecting it. It takes all the excitement out of it I guess. I also want to make a cute dog sweater for my parent's dog...I'm not so sure if I will even get the time to start that. I wish I could quit my job and stay home to knit all day. One can dream I suppose...

Summer in full bloom!

I've been spending a lot of time outside lately. Cleaning up the mess of a yard the previous owner made, planting flowers and digging up overgrown flowerbeds.

Here's a shot of our Rhododendron!

Our snowball tree!

And some poppies! :)

I have done a little knitting. I am almost finished a pair of socks, I about to start the toe decreases on the second sock. Yep, the second sock! I have *almost* knit an entire pair of socks! I'm so proud. :) And yes, dorky.

Look, a sock!

Sorry for the disappearance, I've been busy lately. But anyhoo...

There has been knitting, but not much until lately.

I never did finish my Monkey socks. I'm on the gusset now, but they require too much attention so I've put them off to the side. Instead I've started a new pair of socks using the lovely Opal (I think) sock yarn that The Ninja Knitter gifted me awhile back. I'm totally loving this yarn and I think I'm developing a sock addiction. I started this sock on Friday night and I'm almost finished the first one! It fits perfectly so far. My camera batteries died before I could get a picture of it on me but heres one of sock #1 on the needles.

I'm using magic loop and I'm loving it so far. It gets a little akward when picking up the stitches for the gussett, but overall I love it.

My goal is to finish the pair within the next week or so because I have ordered some Tofutsies in 733 Get Your Feet Wet and 723 Put Your Foot Down from The Knitter.com. I've ordered from this place awhile ago and it took about 3 or 4 weeks to get it, I'm hoping it won't be so long this time. But hey, I can't complain because they offer free shipping! :) I've heard mixed reviews on this yarn, but overall good. I can't wait to touch this yarn, it is apparently very soft and silky. I plan on making some Jaywalkers with one of the balls.

Other than that not much else is new...we've been busy tearing our house apart doing renos. The bathroom is officially done and we love it!

My mom got the cutest puppy ever! Meet Maggie:

She is a Shih Tzu and is 2 months old. She's absolutely adorable. She loves to cuddle and she's very smart. We kidnapped her last week for a few hours and in 10 minutes we taught her to sit. My Mom taught her to do paddy cakes...so cute!

Well thats about it for now...must go, the bedroom is screaming for a coat of paint. Ugh. I am so tired of doing drywall, I will be glad when its over. The results are worth it though!

Monkey!

Not much new in the knitting department these days. I started Monkey a few weeks ago and flew through to the gusset decreases in just one week! I haven't touched it since. I've been pretty busy the past few weeks, and when I did have the time to knit, I didn't feel like it. Must get over this slump. I want a pair of Monkeys! Since I've been slack in the photo department lately, here's a few pics of my progress so far:

Yarn: Knit Picks Pallette in Rainforest Heather
Needles: 2.25 Knit Picks
Pattern: Monkey

*Yawn*

I know, I know...my blog has been pretty boring lately. Come to think of it, its always been pretty boring in its short existance. I'm going to have to do something about that. There won't be too many photos for awhile...hubby took the camera with him so I'm going to have to borrow one or just go buy a new one soon.

On the knitting front, I have been doing a bit here and there. I almost finished my first "real" sock using Elann sock yarn (can't find the label right now, sorry) all I have left to do is graft the toe and its officially a sock. Yayyy! It's currently on the back burner while I work on *hangs head in shame* another pair of socks. Yep, I needed something to keep my mind busy and the plain stockenette sock just wasn't doing it for me. Sooooo...I started Monkey. I am using KnitPicks Palette in "Rainforest" I think. It's coming along quite nicely and I love the pattern. I did 5 repeats on the leg and am about to start the heel. It's working up suprisingly fast since I just started it less than a week ago. Of course I have far more time on my hands to knit now that hubby is away. Oh how I miss him so. Just a few more weeks...ok, 8 and he will be home again to snuggle.

As soon as I get my hands on a camera I will take a picture of my Monkey(s) and post it.
Until next time...Happy Valentine's Day!

Last week I was feeling a bit down. My husband moved several provinces away for a job, temporarily and I was (still am) missing him terribly. Then I checked the mail last Wednesday and found a package from my awesome secret pal, Maria! It put a smile on my face for the first time in awhile. She packed lots of goodies in it, the best tasting chocolate I've ever had, so me yummy hot chocolate, beautiful yarn, some very cute stitch markers, stich holders, an adorable hedge hog tape measure, a cute mug and lots of other goodies that I am sure I am forgetting to mention. She made my day. Thank you so much Maria!

Here's a shot of the goodies:
Isn't the duck the cutest?!
